This Privacy Policy explains how Membird handles information when you use the Membird mobile application.
Information we collect
Membird creates an anonymous Firebase authentication identifier to keep your learning data associated with your app installation. We store your selected languages, onboarding choices, learning preferences, lesson progress, word-review history, streaks, and subscription selection. We also store a device identifier and your device platform to help synchronize this information and operate the service.
Membird requests microphone and speech-recognition access only when you choose a pronunciation exercise. Your spoken input is used to evaluate the exercise through your device’s speech-recognition service. Membird does not intentionally save audio recordings or speech transcripts to its Firebase database.
How we use information
We use this information to provide and synchronize learning progress, personalize lessons and reminders, maintain app functionality, and troubleshoot service issues. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
Service providers
Learning data is stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore). RevenueCat processes the anonymous Firebase identifier and purchase-entitlement information needed to provide, validate, and restore Premium access. Speech-recognition processing is provided by the operating system or the speech service configured on your device. Those providers may process information under their own privacy terms.
Tracking and advertising
Membird does not use data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. It does not use the advertising identifier, serve third-party advertising, sell personal information, or share data with data brokers.
Data retention and deletion
Learning data is retained while it is needed to provide the app. Because Membird currently uses anonymous accounts, deleting the app or clearing its data may prevent access to locally stored account credentials. To request deletion of synchronized data, contact us through the Support page and include the anonymous account identifier if available.
Children
Membird is not directed to children under the age at which consent is required in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us through the Support page.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. The latest version will always be posted on this page.
